The story
‘Hey there’ is a woman-owned small business, based in Maastricht, The Netherlands, that aims to bring a smile to people’s faces by giving and receiving gift boxes with specially selected items. Through the selection of items and brands included in our gift boxes, ‘hey there’ supports other women-owned, small businesses that take into consideration the sustainability of our planet. We also prioritise and support businesses based in Malta (my home country) and the Netherlands (my second home). The idea of ‘hey there’ started from a wish to work more from home when becoming a new mum. Having always enjoyed the wonderful process of giving gifts; from buying gifts, to wrapping, and seeing someone’s smile as they open their gift, the idea to make a small business out of it was born.
Why "hey there"?
When my newborn daughter started smiling, I trialed everything under the sun to get her to smile as big as possible and as often as possible. I soon discovered that her best smiles came in the morning (yes, she’s a morning person, unlike her mama), and that a high-pitched, stretched ‘heeeey theeere’ got the best smile out of her. Bingo! There goes the name of my new business (with a few less e’s). Also, isn’t it wonderful for a loved one to receive a gift in their postbox with a ‘hey there’ and a bunch of goodies to make them smile big?
